Meaning “long sword” in English, the TSURUGI is a unique tree saw that utilizes advanced materials and blade grinding techniques to deliver a durable, super slender “spine of teeth,” designed to cut hard-to-soft wood, even in tight quarters. In the prototype stage of development, professionals were amazed by the cutting power and surgical precision that this sleek new blade affords.

Thanks to Silky’s creative team, the TSURUGI comes to market as perhaps the lightest weight, best balanced “big saw” ever produced, having no handle screws, nuts or extraneous hardware to keep it together. The comfortable, 2-part rubber grip is held together by an ingenious integration with the blade tang. And as if the saw alone weren’t enough, each Silky TSURUGI handsaw   comes in a unique aluminum scabbard that can be attached to the belt or leg depending on the users preference and has eight rollers protecting the entryway.

Great Review by Keith
I am so glad I went with this saw. The thin, straight, long blade means I can reach areas with ease that you just cant with any other saw. I prefer straight blades in general because notching is cleaner, and because the saw can go in the scabbard in either orientation, since both the blade and scabbard are straight. This makes putting the saw away with off hand and/or different grips easy. Speaking of the scabbard, which is usually a downside for Silkys, this one is amazing. Straight aluminum with large saw dust ports at the bottom, makes this a great candidate for shin attachment, while large rollers make sheathing and desheathing smooth. The saw also locks into the scabbard quite nicely, so you don’t have to worry about it falling out when you invert.
The other unique feature is the ability to swap out blades in seconds without tools. For me this means I can swap out from medium teeth to large at a whim.
The only potential downside is that since the blade is so long and thin, a tip bind when forcefully pushing the saw back in could (in theory) bend or break it, though I have not experienced this.
Other than that, It’s a Silky, so expect the best, fastest, longest lasting cutting experience on the market. (Posted on 3/1/2018)
Amazing Saw Review by Aaron
This saw is amazing. The strength of the blade is what has impressed me the most. Of course, being a silky, it has stayed unbelievably sharp since day one. Thanks Silky. I will be buying the 200mm or 300mm with large teeth just to have a second shorter one for crowded climbs. (Posted on 12/3/2015)
