Details

The rope and cambium protector is a product from medieval times for sure, but effective just the same. Still a leading means of chafe protection in a variety of rope uses, leather is tough, lightweight and, in this practice, quick to employ The thread-and-haul technique is simple and minimizes the many headaches associated with ground placement of other friction saving devices. The Rope and Cambium Protector is not only easy to install but nearly indestructible come removal time, brought down with an easy yank on the rope’s end. Most users keep the rope and cambium protector installed and ready for use every time the rope is utilized. After heavy use it may be helpful to introduce talcum powder inside the channel to reduce friction. Designed for lines under 14 mm (9/16”).

Cool tool, but remember your leather care! Review by Ben

I started using one of these this year and it just lives on my rope. Great product and easy to use. Users beware, this story may help you: In July I did a job where the lawn sprinklers came on and my rope got put up wet. I went on vacation, my rope and this friction saver sat in the gear bag in my shop for a month without use, and we had plenty of triple digit heat. When I pulled it out on a job in August I discovered, being leather, the friction saver was covered in dried up mold and was decayed to much to use again. It and the rope smelled old as through they had not been touched in 80 years. Have to deep clean my rope and buy a new friction saver. So take a lesson from me, regularly condition your leather friction saver with boot oil and don't put it away wet! (Posted on 9/8/2018)

Easy installation from the ground. Cuts down the bark bite. Smoother on the climb. Great for working close to a structure . When it comes time to remove from the canopy, just yank it on our, and no worries about bashing the house, hand rails, or concrete with heavy rings. (Posted on 5/19/2017)
