Buckingham Steel Wire Gaff Protectors
- Product Review (submitted on May 7, 2014):
- These gaff covers are steel dipped in a rubberized plastic. You can tell they are dipped because the coating is thinner at the top and thick at the bottom and (on mine) has some of the coating that dried in a droplet sticking past the bottom that looks like it could easily be rubbed off when putting spikes in and out of your gear bag exposing the metal. The spring-like closure piece is a great design but does not fit around the bulkier bar of the aluminum climbers like my Geckos. And when I just slid them over the gaff to check length, the gaff sticks out of the hollow end by about a half inch. In summary, they would be great if you have the shorter, steel shaft pole climber gaffs. For longer tree spikes or thicker aluminum framed spikes they aren't what you're looking for.
