Details

State-of-the-art, heavy-duty, aluminum telescoping pole saw - The pole saw of choice by professionals. Thick aluminum alloy extension poles are oval shaped, providing precise control over the direction of the blade (especially important for high cutting) thus reducing bending to the minimum. The base pole has a pole-end shock absorber and comfortable rubberized overgrip. The 16-21/2-inch curved blade utilizes proprietary Silky MIRAI-ME (Smooth Cutting) Technology - The Teeth of the Future! The precision-ground, razor-sharp, super-aggressive teeth with four cutting angles provide extremely fast cutting action. The taper-ground profile reduces drag and directs more usable energy to the cutting edge. The blade features a replaceable lower sickle for small branches and undercutting bark. HAYATE is manufactured with high visibility colors and comes equipped with a new advanced design sheath with a built-in carrying handle. It is ideal for pruning large branches at a higher position without ever climbing a ladder. This is the strongest and fastest telescoping pole saw available on the market today. Made in Japan.

To allow effective use of HAYATE pole saws, two locking systems are incorporated to assure structural rigidity of the extended poles: 1) locking pins/buttons - the primary pole locking mechanism; and 2) friction clamps - the secondary pole locking mechanism. The two systems are designed to work together. This dual locking system allows 100% of the effort at the handle to be effectively transferred to the blade up to 21 feet away. Spring-loaded locking buttons allow multiple length adjustments and safety friction clamps hold the extensions firmly in place. Safety considerations require that the pole saw user must wear a hard hat and eye protection at all times. Manufacturer Warning: Do not use aluminum telescoping pole saws around electrical power lines or equipment. Electrical shock may result. Incorrect use of the Silky pole saw may cause injury.

My crew likes the heavy duty part compared to its brother it lasts a lot longer. We have tried many pole saws it defiantly out performs and out lasts the others and is lighter than a gas powers pruner. The guys will pick it up first. The lasting part has a lot to do with the operator. (Posted on 8/4/2016)
Not worth the extra money over the hayauchi. Review by chris

Compared to the hayauchi the pole is definitely stiffer which I liked, however it doesnt help much when the blade more flimsy in comparison and is constantly getting hung up! This wasn't a problem with the hayauchi. Put a stiffer blade on it and it would be the perfect pole saw. (Posted on 4/3/2016)

I've just needed to replace my blade after years of hard service. It finally dulled and developed a warp, my fault. Worth every dime, heavy yes but the weight does the cutting. (Posted on 10/10/2015)

This has proven to be a great asset to trimming trees up from the ground. Wish I would have bought one sooner! I didn't notice the weight like others but to me it is way lighter than running a Stihl HT 131 so that is all I can compare the weight to (Posted on 8/28/2014)

Great saw. I own this product since 2007 and have used it to cut many oak branches as thick as 7". The down side to this telescoping pole is the extending and retracting mechanism. By the end of one season, I have difficulty (and still do) with extending and retracting the pole. Some of the pins do not sync properly. I do not know how to fix this problem and it can be frustrating having a saw that is 20' long and will not retract for storage. This is my main grievance with this saw. (Posted on 4/12/2014)

Hayate is the way to go. Review by DaveW

The Hayate is more rectangular shaped, for strength. I have two of them, 16', 21'. They are heavy, but I have cut limbs off of spruce trees with either one at full extension. The blade have bound up and bent at times but never broken. They are expensive, to me, but worth the quality. (Posted on 9/9/2010)
Stronger and More rigid than Hayauchi Review by Preston

I've used both the Hayate and the Hayauchi. The Hayate is definitely stronger and much more rigid than the Hayauchi. I prefer it over the Hayauchi because of these two things. The Hayate will hold up to much more abuse. It is however, heavier. Well worth the extra weight in my humble opinion. I've not noticed that the blades are brittle. In fact I've been quite impressed many times that they haven't broken under conditions that made me think they would. (Posted on 5/19/2010)
