I ordered this product so i wouldn't have to worry with tying a blakes hitch for every tree ascent. This combo has everything you will need to have a hitch climbing system. Although it is a great combo, i feel as if i overpaid just because DMM is stamped on the pulley and biners. (Posted on 2/13/2017)
When it's good, it's really good! Review by Larry

When I started climbing, a single eye split tail with a Blake's hitch was considered "bleeding edge" technology. I have used a Lockjack Sport for years. The hitch climber system is the most promising new twist, for me. I like the self-aligning and self-tending features that the hardware offers. It sets up quickly and it conserves the climber's energy all day long. It does, however, require great care regarding the grip and release of the friction hitch. Like many, I found great success with the Michoacan hitch. I noticed early that one must still pay attention to the hitch and be sure that it is responsive (tight) enough to grip the rope almost instantly after it has become slack. Something as simple as a half/full twist on one leg of the Prusik or an extra turn at the top of the hitch can go a long way toward your safety and bowel control. When you get it right, it is truly a joy to climb with this gear. Lastly, buy a good swivel to keep the twists out of your doubled climbing line. (Posted on 2/9/2017)

Haven't gotten to use it in the tree yet, but have set it up at home to give it a try and it works great. A previous comment mentions having to buy a rope with a spliced eye, I found this to be unnecessary, possibly due to using it in an o - rig fashion. Or a floating prussit as it is called in the video attached with this item, as the termination knot is then below the friction hitch and not in line with it. (Posted on 3/1/2015)

You don't know - until you know. My dad taught me on an old-school, split tail system. This setup revolutionized my climbing: less energy wasted, keeps the system in a safe, and closed loop, maximizes my time in the tree (Posted on 2/28/2015)

you need a spliced eye to use on the hitch climber. not a termination knot. I have to buy new rope to use on this now (Posted on 10/30/2014)
