Details

Eye to eye tails are used to create what tree climbing instructors call a "closed system", resulting in a finished friction hitch with both ends attached to the connector instead of one hanging loose, as with the traditional hitch or single-eye slit tai. The eye-to-eye tail also allows use of several hitches that are easily learned and extremely smooth performing.

By utilizing both ends of the type of split tail, friction is more evenly distributed, resulting in more consistent friction thorough a knot that is less binding, yet grabs quite firmly. The system is enhanced significantly when incorporating a micropulley that fair-leads the hitch for one handed slack tending.

Identical to the previous review, I too purchased this to replace the 8mm Ocean split tail for my hitch climber setup. Works great, handles heat without glazing as fast, absolutely will buy again & again when needed. Best price too for these! (Posted on 1/18/2018)
Hitch climber split tail that can handle the heat. Review by Larry

I use this on my hitch climber combo in place of the included 8mm Ocean split tail. It's firmer and larger and works well with my 1/2" climbing rope. Using a double ring (or pulley) friction-saver transfers nearly all of the rope friction and heat to the climbing hitch so that even a slow descent, during work, can get the Prusik pretty hot. This one can handle the occasional heat without damage. (Posted on 2/9/2017)
