Works great for descents from tall palm trees. We use to throw the line over the crown of palm but rope would get stuck and ruin the rope pulling it out. We now just chock it underneath the crown and we are down in a few seconds and no trouble retrieving the rope or rigging. (Posted on 9/9/2015)

WOW! Great for a back up when moseying up and down with spikes and a flip. Fits the trunk anywhere any time. Just plug in your standard climbing setup (Hitched DdRT) and follow it up and down the tree. The most versatile piece of equipment outside of a carabineer. For the price, every climber should have one. As a note, you can use it for a friction saver to… (Posted on 9/30/2014)
great idea, but get the steel rings Review by Steve D

The concept is awesome, and it works great as intended, but I think the aluminum rings are too soft for the intended application. After only a few climbs the rings got scarred up from rubbing against each other (if they touch, which they almost invariably do when you set this device from the ground) My friend got the steel version and his is holding up great, I thought I'd go aluminum to save the weight but wish I hadn't. I don't think the gouging on the rings is enough to destroy your climbing line instantly, but the whole idea with this device is to save friction, and your ropes from damage etc. When I told Sherrill about it they said I was dragging it on the concrete to get the marks I showed them pics of, which is unequivocally not true. I baby all my gear bc my life hangs off of it.... noticed on the first climb, but now after lots of climbs it has been corroborated that the aluminum rings scar themselves up. I keep rotating the rings to see if i can get the line to run through a fresh section/see if it does it every time but now they are fairly consistently scuffed-up all the way around. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but it's nearly impossible to guess exactly the circumference of the crotch to be choked from ground level so even on a near perfect guess, the rings might contact each other at which point this happens. I love the idea but wish I had gotten steel. I think most arborists would tell you to get steel rings for friction savers anyway for durability and added strength. Giving it a four stars bc even in light of this, it is well made, nicely spliced, great concept, but not in love with the aluminum rings. Get the steel version and I think you'll be very happy. If you're just going to choke spars and install from the tree for descents etc. and you can keep the rings from touching, the aluminum might work for you and save some weight. (Posted on 9/25/2014)
