“What’s that gray matter worth?”
There once was a time when the only helmet available over eighty bucks was found on the football field. Today there’s hardly a reputable bike shop in town with helmets under a hundred. So why is it that those, who not only wear a helmet daily but actually test its function seem surprised when good and comfortable headwear approach the hundred? Well don’t freak now…

Plasma work helmets were designed for professional applications. They are lightweight, tough, and uber-comfortable. Every helmet contains ten aluminum-grilled air vents that provide efficient cooling and ventilation while blocking out debris. The rubberized wheel for headband size adjustment is easy to use even while wearing gloves.

The high-density ABS plastic outer shell is designed to withstand significant impact from above or from the side, and meets CE EN 397 and CE EN 12492 standards. The high-density polystyrene inner shell has ducts, allowing for natural air flow and heat cycling. Inner padding consists of two pieces—a soft polyethelene headband and disc, both of which are removable and washable. The liner is made of anti-allergic, moisture-absorbent, odor-resistant fabric.

The chin strap is designed with four fasten points to reduce risk of helmet loss from impact (breaking strength more than 50 decanewtons, or 112.4 pounds; CE EN 12492 mountaineering helmet standard). Kask’s safety release system allows for quick fastening and unfastening. Soft polyethylene side retractors regulate strap length for various head shapes. The red-colored ring on one of the straps is provided for fastening the helmet to a harness. The lamp-carrying clips, made from sturdy nylon 6.6, are compatible with most strap-type headlamps.

Both the 3M Optime 105 Earmuffs ( part # 33288) and the 3M Hi-Viz Cap-Mount Earmuffs (part # 15820) will fit this KASK helmet when used with the brackets that come in the box with the helmet.

WARNING - Plasma helmets meet ANSI Z89-1-2003 Type I (top impact), Class C (no electrical protection) standards for industrial head protection.

Specifications:
Outer shell - ABS plastic
Inner lining - fully washable
Weight - 380g /0.84 lb (visor and ear muffs are not included)

Note:  European-sourced Kask helmets may not meet ANSI standards for impact or have muff brackets and other features found in helmets sold at SherrillTree.

Love my kask!!! Review by Adam

Love my kask!!! Fits great. Wouldnt trade it for any other helmet. The sena Bluetooth headset works great with it too. Do have to mention when it's hot out, it is noticeable hotter than my petzl. Obviously due to the foam liner.

Best hard hat ever. Love the adjustments. Light weight, comfortable. Fits like a ball cap.

I am a large t shirt. I would prefer the arborist shirt if it is still available.
Thank you for the awesome gear.

Excellent helmet. The best thing about it is it has removable head bands that you can wash when there soaked in sweat. I also bought the hearing protection that connects easily to the helmet. Definitely worth the money, and very comfortable! (Posted on 3/20/2016)

Been wearing petzl helmets for years. Heard all the hype and had to try for myself. It was a great move. Comfortable with the ratchet adjustment and padding. Screens in vent holes. A true arborist helmet designed for us. BillSouthern Touch Tree Services, Inc. (Posted on 11/13/2014)
Worth the Investment Review by Mike Oxendine

Great helmet, I have the Petzl Vertex Vent also. The Vertex Vent is much lighter but lacks the comfort and solid padding the Kask helmet offers. I climb with the Vertex Vent in the summer when the temps are over 90 and I use the Kask at temps below 90. Great helmet, definitely a solid investment. If you have a $10 head buy a $10 dollar helmet, otherwise spring for the top of the line, which I think you get with the Kask. (Posted on 11/4/2014)

this is a replacement for a broken helmet (yes I fell again). not only is it pretty - it is the most comfortable helmet I have owned in the almost 13 years of climbing. it is cool on our hot and humid days. I prefer my chin strap loose when not climbing and this helmet stays in place when looking up and moving around the job site. very comfortable and easily adjustable. I will most definitely by another when the time arises. (Posted on 8/15/2014)

I've a large head so I was worried about the fit. I've run into a few helmets that where too tight. this one is adjustable in all the right places. As far as being heavy I didn't notice personally, but then I'm used to wearing PPE and I already said i have a big head so maybe my neck is used to it. Love the fit. Love the adaptability. Life Saver Review by Matt Smith

Roping down a 10ft long locust limb 10in diameter. The butt kicked out causing the whole works to take a nasty bounce off the tree and catch me across the left side of my head, knocking me unconscious in the tree. The ER doc let me know the seriousness of the situation, explaining that without a doubt he felt the helmet saved my life. I escaped with only two staples to close a small cut from the chin strap rivet. I wouldn't trust my life with anything else. (Posted on 1/18/2014)

Finally, a helmet that could protect you. Not a cheap piece of plastic. I don't think it's heavy. ( I've never worn the real cheap helmets.) Great fit. Comfortable. I wear it all day. Combined with the new, bigger visors and Peltor radio headsets, it makes a professional package. I bought them for all my crew. No complaints. (Posted on 12/16/2013)

Was so excited when I got it I put ti together (visor/hearing pro.) and wore it around th hosue all night.....Wife and kids made fun of me but I wanted to get used to it...The next moring I put it on for work and when I put the hearing protectors into position one of the clips that hold the hearing pro. to the helmet broke...UG. Sherril made it right though right away and I'm loving this helmet. Very comfy/light. (Posted on 9/16/2013)

Helmet, works well-fits appropriately for a large range of skull shapes. I have worn a Kask lid for several years, but I have to say that I switched brands to the Petzl Alveo Vent. The Alveo is much lighter with (as far as I can tell) very similar padding and suspension. The fit and feel are far superior to the Kask, and price point is lower. Indeed, the grey matter is always worth the money, however when wearing a lid all day, for this arborist, the Kask over does it on weight. (Posted on 8/26/2013)

today 4 4 2012 my crew and i were taking down a pin oak that suffered June 1st tornado damage and Oct. 31st snow storm damage. We were roping down a 8 to 10 inch diameter 30 footlong limb under control with rope and braking system. When the limb was swinging about 55 feet up it had pulled a hanger out of the tree.I instinctivly tried to do the turtle by hiding under my helmet and turning from the limb that i apparently saw coming, thats what the crew said. The limb wacked my Kask Helmet and knocked me the **** out for 45 sec. to 1 min.THIS HELMET SAVED MY LIFE!!! My grey matter is worth more than $130.00 thats for sure! I have a headache, ruffed up shoulders, spent a few hours in the hospital gettin checked out but could have been so much worse! Thanks Kask for a wicked awesome helmet and Thanks Sherrill Tree for making it available to me!! I have worn $70 to $80 helmets for years and i know if i had been wearing one of those pieces of ****, there would not have been the same outcome. The way i found this helmet,a climber buddy of mine had one and i needed to borrow it for a minute. I was amazed, its like not even wearing a lid, it's so comfortable BUT A LIFE SAVER FOR SURE! I would encourage climbers and ground crews to buy quality safety gear, your life may depend on it. Each member of our crew is getting this particular Kask helmet, even if i have to buy them all! Now to order a new one. Absolute best product, SOLD FOR LIFE!!! (Posted on 4/4/2012)
