“What’s that gray matter worth?”

There once was a time when the only helmet available over eighty bucks was found on the football field. Today there’s hardly a reputable bike shop in town with helmets under a hundred. So why is it that those, who not only wear a helmet daily but actually test its function seem surprised when good and comfortable headwear approach the hundred? Well don’t freak now…

Plasma work helmets were designed for professional applications. They are lightweight, tough, and uber-comfortable. Every helmet contains ten aluminum-grilled air vents that provide efficient cooling and ventilation while blocking out debris. The rubberized wheel for headband size adjustment is easy to use even while wearing gloves.

The high-density ABS plastic outer shell is designed to withstand significant impact from above or from the side, and meets CE EN 397 and CE EN 12492 standards. The high-density polystyrene inner shell has ducts, allowing for natural air flow and heat cycling. Inner padding consists of two pieces—a soft polyethelene headband and disc, both of which are removable and washable. The liner is made of anti-allergic, moisture-absorbent, odor-resistant fabric.
The chin strap is designed with four fasten points to reduce risk of helmet loss from impact (breaking strength more than 50 decanewtons, or 112.4 pounds; CE EN 12492 mountaineering helmet standard). Kask’s safety release system allows for quick fastening and unfastening. Soft polyethylene side retractors regulate strap length for various head shapes. The red-colored ring on one of the straps is provided for fastening the helmet to a harness. Includes brackets to attach earmuffs. The lamp-carrying clips, made from sturdy nylon 6.6, are compatible with most strap-type headlamps.

WARNING - Plasma helmets meet ANSI Z89-1-2003 Type I (top impact), Class C (no electrical protection) standards for industrial head protection.

Specifications:
Outer shell - ABS plastic
Inner lining - fully washable
Weight - 380g /0.84 lb (visor and ear muffs are not included)

Note:  European-sourced Kask helmets may not meet ANSI standards for impact or have muff brackets and other features found in helmets sold at SherrillTree.

Both the 3M Optime 105 Earmuffs ( part # 33288) and the 3M Hi-Viz Cap-Mount Earmuffs (part # 15820) will fit this KASK helmet when used with the brackets that come in the box with the helmet.

The moment I put his helmet on and adjusted the straps it felt like I had been wearing it for years. Very comfortable and feels well made. I used petzl for years and have no complaints but this is a step up for sure. If comfort is important to you then spend the extra buck and buy this helmet. You will not be disappointed. Honestly dont know why this has any bad reviews, fits very nicley doesnt hurt my head from long use. Iv used alot of helmets for work and this is the most comfortable. Staps are tough and so are the ear muffs. I usualy cut little limbs above me to get them out of the way and this helmet makes it so I dont even feel them when they hit my head. When limbs hit the earmuffs its like they absorb impact. Very safe, very comfortable, would recomend this to anyone including ground guys if they would spend the money to get something worth their dollar. (Posted on 5/2/2016)

nice helmet but did have a crack in helmet put out of service should have been warrantied. SHERRILLtree Response: KASKSHV-YL was purchased October 12, 2012. Most Manufacturers recommend replacing helmets anywhere from 3 to 5 years under normal use. But if your helmet gets dropped, takes a hit, gets cracked or shows signs of wearing out you should replace it. Thank you for your review! (Posted on 5/19/2015)

no ear muffs really work with this helmet no real seal and the noise of chippers and saws just echo in your ears tried ear plugs but they aren't as good never liked them anyhow strap also sits behind ears and pushes them forward very uncomfortable even with strap tight and head band tightened all the way helmet moves around on your head need ear muffs (that don't work with this helmet) to keep it from moving cant give 0 stars so they got one out of me (Posted on 4/27/2015)
Too small for big heads Review by James Gutierrez

Sorry, I have a big head - size 7 3/4 hat. The adjusting band at it's widest does accommodate that but the helmet still sit's high. The triangular pieces coming down from the helmet to the chin strap terminate about in the middle of my ears - uncomfortable - and the chin strap at it's most extended strangles me when it is buckled. It should easily be two inches longer. I feel as though this was a little kids bike helmet repurposed and up-priced for tree service. Am not as impressed as I had hoped I would be. Giving it the three stars because it may well be what a person with a smaller head can better use. (Posted on 11/8/2014)

Used Petzle's for years and they are great, but these are even better! Comfort is KEY - you don't protect what you don't wear and I don't catch my guys taking these off for the "ten minute breaks" while the ground boys 'catch up.' (Posted on 8/23/2014)
