Now available from Sherrill is one of Europe's most popular tree climbing harnesss, the Butterfly. Recently redesigned to meet American standards (OSHA 1926.502 & ANSI A10.13) and Europe's EN358 and EN813, the NEW Butterfly II is the result of a collaborative effort between European tree climbing experts Frederic Mathias and Francois Dussenne of Canopee Design Worn by several competition-level climbers, the Butterfly II has built a reputation for comfort and flexibility that few other harnesses meet. Weighing in at less than 4 pounds, the B2 is as light as it is comfortable and durable. The B2 comes standard with leg strap suspension that supports each leg independently, but can be converted to a batten seat (optional) in less than 5 minutes. Previous Butterfly owners will be intrigued with the B2's ability to change out the support bridge by opening the clevis ends. With this new feature many climbers are plugging in their own hardware like a Sherrill swivel or a few captive eye carabiners to better conform the harness to personal climbing styles If you're in the market for a proven performer that makes work a new found pleasure, consider the Butterfly II an excellent choice! Weight Limit 220lbs.

good features poor fit

I'm pretty happy with the features and design of this saddle with a couple exceptions.1. The butt floss (elastic) is cheesy and always loosens, my $60 rock harness is far better in this regard.2. I am a 31" waist and the small still doesn't fit me well, especially in the legs. This seems ridiculous given that most climbers are going to be smaller. Big bummer

Light but Loose

Its a good light saddle with a good number of attachment points for your tools, but the leg straps loosen every time you put it on. The small elastic straps holding the leg cuffs are useless. Also, the buckles don't always release easily which is frustrating when you're exhausted and just want out of your gear.

my best choice

for the last 9 years i have been using Buckingham's saddles and thought that it was time for a change visiting local dealers and searching on the internet for about 3 months took me to the Butterfly II, switching from bosun seat to leg straps had me a little confused but as soon as i start foot locking to get up on a 80' Oak i noticed that it was my best choice, i dont know why i wait so long ... i feel super confident with this saddle and limb walking feels more easy ..... i did not found where to hang my chainsaw so i put a carabinner on the belt ... thats the only thing i dont like about it

Good, not Great

Good comfortable saddle for climbing. Does not have any installed attachments for chainsaw. Negative welds on D-rings are not pretty.Very good maneuverability in trees.So... overall a good saddle, not a great working saddle.

ok not the best.

The belt is good if you plan to do competitions with, but as for a work harness I would not suggest this saddle, purely because it does loosen quite often, and the attachments for any tool required for the job is just not there, I found the only caritool you can use that works well with the belt is petzl's caritool which I would not suggest buying either, cheap made and break very easily. If I was to buy this belt again it would be purely for recreational and competition climbing only, its a very light weight belt which would make it perfect for those purposes, it also sags with a chainsaw attached. Good for anything other then tree trimming. I still do like the belt just wish the attachment points were there.
