For tree climbers, rope is among the top four most important tools for work efficiency and comfort—the other three being the sit harness, safety lanyard, and handsaw. Without good interaction among these tools and your hands, movement within the tree’s crown can be something less than elegant. Popular among several of the world’s leading competition-level climbers, Poison Ivy is not only versatile for all climbing styles, but it’s affordable for all climbing budgets, too.

Poison Ivy has a unique double braid construction that stays round when pinched by camming mechanisms, yet it is unusually flexible and knot friendly. This construction delivers one of the most static (non-elastic) characteristics available in spliceable arborist rope, ideal for traditional climbers looking for limited “bounce” and especially attractive to SRT (single rope technique) climbers longing to abandon the need for two lines when doubled rope tasks are on the day’s agenda. Beefier to the grip than other ascender-friendly lines, Poison Ivy is still small enough to feed freely through mechanical devices like ascenders and descenders. Unlike other arborist climbing lines, Poison Ivy has no noticeable coating or fabric treatment to make the line feel tacky or slippery when new.

And last but not least is the Ivy’s tough camo-colored jacket! Although not completely invisible, especially among groundies anticipating rope, one of Poison Ivy’s primary appeals is to climbers who prefer to be heard, not seen. And, of course, if incognito’s not your modus operandi, grab a big armful of high-visibility Poison Hi-vy or the new ultra high visibility Poison Ivy Calamine … She’s pretty as a daisy, but look out, man, she’s crazy. Poison ivy, man, it’ll make you itch.

Great Rope!!

Holds up to the stress of climbing 10 trees a day 5 days a week. It knots great and feels great in hand. Would buy again.

Love It!!

I bought this rope with the intentions of only using it for quick climbs. Now its my favorite rope. Easy knotability, easy to get around the most stubborn cottonwood bark, and easy on the hands and eyes. All around a great rope!

the rope is very durable and holds nots well i just did'nt like to climb with it, to me it felt very alasticy during climbs, but great as a light duty lowering line.

not a bad choice

It holds up well and is very visible in the tree, I climb on it every day but it does seem kind of elastic.

Good Product

Love this rope for climbing, good knotability, great visibility for that ground guy who can't seem to keep track of your rope. I find the elasticity helps with fatigue during long days in the tree. My only issue is that I'm having large amounts of sheath slippage. Not a huge deal, but kind of frustrating.

MOOOOOOOOO

Let me start by saying I love this line. It's my first line (yes, others would probably be better for a first) and the climb is way better, and faster than others I've used (for both double footlocking, and single using double rope). I really like this rope, and would recommend it to anyone. I use a smaller diameter split tail, and as long as I don't use a double blakes setup, I've never had problems. But as I said, Mooooooo..... I milked it when I first got it, only an inch or so.First time climbing, it milked another few inches. When I started climbing more frequently, more milking each day.....This rope involves more milking than a lactating farmer running a milking machine on 500 head of cattle. I don't mind maintaining my stuff, but after ever climb? ehhh... But I bought this rope when it was still a "kernmantle" and has since changed to "double braid" so maybe it's improved on the whole milking issue?
