Keep in mind that direct contact with green leaves isn't the only way you can get poison ivy. You can get it from vines or roots in winter and you can get it in spring from pollen that touches your skin. Or you can get it from breathing the smoke of poison ivy that is burning, which can be life-threatening.
SherrillTree has some products that can help, including Tecnu, a wash that neutralizes the oils in poison ivy; Cala-Gel (LINK), an antihistamine that relieves itching; and Oral Ivy (LINK), an over-the-counter medication that builds your resistance to poison ivy. |
