Arborist Industry Credentials:
Certified arborist with three primary areas of focus:
• President of Treeman, Inc., a tree care company.
• President of TreeInspection.com, LLC - a tree inspection business.
• President of the Georgia Arborist Association - a non-profit organization that promotes trees and good tree care practices in the state.
Most known for popularizing tree climbing as an activity for recreation, and founding Tree Climbers International, Inc. (est. 1983), the world's first organization for recreational tree climbers. TCI runs a tree climbing school in Atlanta that teaches climbing skills to beginners, and teaches advanced courses to those who want to take groups and individuals into the treetops. Jenkins' organization also hosts a highly active message board for tree climbers.
SherrillTree Connection:
I found out about SherrillTree through their catalogs. What I like best about SherrillTree is the promotion of new state-of-the-art tools for climbing and the most informative catalog on this planet concerning tree-climbing gear.
Tree Care Connection:
I was an avid tree climber as a child, and always loved trees and climbing. Trees were then -as they are now - a place where I can escape and find a sense of peace. They are a place where one can get a different perspective on life. The crown of a tree inspires in me silence and a sense of coming home. I listen to the tree talking as it moves to the rhythm of the wind. I really think this sense of returning home is genetically wired in humans because trees used to be our safe haven in prehistoric times. As a teacher, I know that it only takes one climb into the branches to change another person's perspective on trees forever so that trees are no longer merely ‘things.' This personal relationship with another growing thing is automatic with the trees I climb and I try to foster this with others, young and old, who adventure upwards. |
